Auxiliary Program
The Burnaby RCMP is pleased to be accepting applications to its Auxiliary Program.
Auxiliaries are highly trained volunteers who contribute to community safety in Burnaby by serving as sworn peace officers, supporting the work of staff and regular members from the Burnaby RCMP.

Auxiliaries are uniformed but unarmed and are trained and authorized to perform non-enforcement community policing and crime prevention activities such as:
- Community/special events
- Home and business safety checks, safety talks and activities
- Traffic and crowd control,
- Disaster planning and emergency preparedness assistance
- Searches for lost persons
In addition to enhancing community safety, these specialized volunteers help create stronger, more well-connected communities by fostering important connections between the RCMP and the public.
Requirements:
- Minimum Age 19
- Proficient in English
- Commitment to at least two years and 180 volunteer hours per year
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident with at least five years in Canada
- Have successfully completed high school or attain equivalent
- Able to obtain RCMP reliability status and valid driver’s licence
- Have no business or employment that may cause a conflict of interest
