Suspect vehicle identified in Burnaby homicide
Background:
On January 23, 2024 at 10:35 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP received calls of a shooting at in the 5500-block of Kingsway Avenue, Burnaby. Upon arrival, officers located the a 25-year old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the investigation and continue to work closely in partnership with the Burnaby RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the BC Coroners Service.
Investigators are now identifying the victim as 25-year old Johnson Viet Anh Do, of Surrey, in hopes of advancing the investigation. Though this appears to have been a targeted shooting, investigators are working to determine a motive.
Through extensive video canvass, IHIT investigators have identified a suspect vehicle, a Silver 2010 Buick Enclave, last observed fleeing east on Kingsway Avenue.
We’re releasing Mr. Do’s name in hopes that those out there who had recent contact with him, will reach out and help us develop a time-line of his activity leading up to the shooting,
says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti, of IHIT. We’re also asking the public to be on the look-out for this Buick Enclave. If you come across this vehicle, please contact IHIT immediately.
