Additional Charges Laid in New Westminster Homicide

New Westminster: On November 21, 2021, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), obtained additional charges in the death of 51-year-old Robert Powshuk, in what is believed to be an isolated incident.
On November 19, 2021, the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) responded to a report of a male bleeding heavily at the Waves Coffee House located at 715 Columbia Street, New Westminster. First responders arrived and despite life saving measures, the victim succumbed to his injuries. This victim was identified as 51-year-old Robert Powshuk. IHIT was called in to investigate. Homicide investigators then located and arrested two people for their alleged involvement. On November 19, 2021, the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) charged Ryan Crossley with 2nd Degree Murder.
IHIT investigators worked in partnership with the NWPD, the NWPD Forensic Identification Section (FIS), and the BC Coroners Service. After continued investigation, supported by additional resources from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) and the
E Division Interview Team, homicide investigators secured additional evidence to support charges. On November 21, 2021, BCPS charged 36-year-old Curtis Crossley with 2nd Degree Murder. All those responsible have been taken into custody.
