File # 2021-1125

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is investigating the disappearance of 40-year-old Naomi Onotera.

Langley: Naomi Onotera was reported last seen on August 28, 2021. The Langley RCMP have been conducting an extensive missing persons investigation. IHIT has been called in to assist the Langley RCMP Serious Crimes Section.

A search of Naomi Onotera’s residence is underway. IHIT investigators are working closely with the Langley RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS). The investigation and search is in its initial stages and currently unfolding.

As part of our initial search, IHIT is looking at Naomi Onotera’s residence as a starting place. I would caution that the presence of officers, security and crime scene tape is not an indication of criminality of anyone living in the residence. They are present to secure the preservation of evidence, says Sergeant David Lee, IHIT would like to ask for patience as this investigation continues. The family has also asked for privacy.

Further details will be released when they become available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
