File 2024-5153

January 30 Lake Country RCMP were notified that a member of the public had been scammed out money during an on-line purchase of a puppy. The scammer had requested a deposit for the puppy in I-Tunes cards. Once the deposit was sent they requested and received a larger sum for a cage and transport of the puppy. Unfortunately, the money sent is not able to be recovered. Reports of on-line sale scams are unfortunately becoming more common. Reputable companies and individuals will not request payment by I-Tunes. Please check out Canada Anti Fraud Center for some safe guards and on-going scams.
