Mischief to Brooks Secondary School
On January 28, 2024 Powell River RCMP responded to a request from Powell River Fire Rescue for assistance at Brooks Secondary School, where a window had been broken and the fire alarm had been pulled just after 2:00am.
The fire department confirmed that there was no fire. No one was found on the property.
Video surveillance was reviewed and two suspects, who appear to be youth, can be seen spray painting graffiti on the exterior wall of the school, then throwing a rock through the window and pulling the fire alarm.

Theft from change room at Powell River Recreation Complex
On January 20, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a report that a bag had been stolen from the women’s change room at the Recreation Complex some time between 1:00pm and 5:00pm.
The investigation is ongoing.
Powell River RCMP would like to remind Complex customers to secure all belongings when using the facilities. Lockers are available for day use in the changerooms at a cost of 50 cents, and the main desk can make change if required.

Search Warrant executed on Sutherland Avenue
On February 1, 2024, Powell River RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence on Sutherland Avenue.
The Powell River RCMP would like to assure the community that there is no risk to public safety.
