The Prince Rupert RCMP is requesting assistance from the public with a property damage investigation.

On May 18, 2023 before 1pm, a motor vehicle is believed to have struck a street light lamp standard belonging to the City of Prince Rupert, located on 6th St by the Tim Horton's and Rupert Square Mall parking lots. The incident was only reported to police later that the day by a third-party and no video surveillance in the area captured it.
"We're asking members of the public who would have seen the incident to come forward in order to provide us with any relevant details to forward our investigation" said Cst. Gabriel Gravel, Media Relations Officer with the Prince Rupert RCMP.
The City of Prince Rupert estimates the damages to cost around $15,000 to repair.
