Intoxicated in public:

The Kitimat RCMP were advised of an intoxicated individual at the 100 block of Nechako Center in Kitimat BC, on January 26th. Officers attended the area and located an individual that had consumed a sufficient amount of alcohol that they were arrested for causing a disturbance by being intoxicated in public. The individual was booked into the Kitimat RCMP cells for a period of time.

Have you lost your bike?:

A bicycle was reported to be abandoned near East Columbia Blvd on January 26th. The officer responding was able to locate the bike sitting in snow by the path in the area. It is believed that the bike was there for some time.

Broken vehicle window:

A broken vehicle window was discovered and reported to the Kitimat RCMP on January 27th. It appeared that an unknown culprit(s) had thrown a rock through the side window of the vehicle, parked on the 600 block of West Columbia Ave overnight.

Motor vehicle collision:

During the morning commute on January 28th, the Kitimat RCMP officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on the 2400 block of Kitamaat Village Road. On attendance, the officers located a vehicle that had rolled onto its side after losing traction on the slippery road surface. Luckily the driver was not injured, however required assistance to be removed from the overturned vehicle.

Impaired driving:

On January 29th, 2023, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of an erratic driver on Highway 37, heading towards Terrace. Kitimat RCMP officers responded and were able to locate and preform a traffic stop with the vehicle’s driver. While speaking to the driver, an impaired operation of a vehicle investigation was started. After providing a sample of breath into an approved screening device, it was found the driver had consumed alcohol before driving. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Tractor trailer rollover:

A report of a tractor trailer that had gone into the ditch, near Onion Lake on Highway 37 on February 1st, 2023. Two Kitimat RCMP officers attended and located the vehicle off the roadway. The driver was not injured and the vehicle was not impeding traffic. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind all drivers that weather conditions can change quickly while you are travelling. Please slow down and ensure you arrive at your destination safe and sound.
