Unlicensed driver incident

On November 21st, a Quadra RCMP officer was proactively patrolling and located a vehicle where the registered owner had an invalid driver license. The driver was cooperative and confirmed his identity without issue. The driver was served with an unlicensed prohibition notice on the behalf of ICBC and his vehicle was towed for the mandatory seven days. 

Motor vehicle accident

On November 23rd, Quadra Fire requested assistance at a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident on Cape Mudge Road. Officers attended and located both vehicles, one of which was very badly damaged. It appeared that one vehicle was trying to back out of the driveway, and the second driver was going straight. The vehicle backing up onto the roadway failed to stop causing the accident. The driver of the vehicle that failed to yield advised they tried to press the brake pedal but were unsuccessful. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were released on scene. Impairment is not believed to be a factor. 

Theft from vehicle

On November 23rd, Quadra RCMP received a report of an incident that occurred at approximately 1:00 AM on November 22nd. The complainant woke up and noted a light on in her carport. Originally, the complainant advised she didn't believe anything was taken but upon further inspection she realized someone had rummaged through her vehicle. The only items taken was some loose change. The Quadra RCMP would like to remind the public to lock their vehicles and valuables.

Warrants executed

On November 23rd, officers received a tip from the public regarding a wanted individual hiding in Quadra. The wanted man, who was a suspect in many of the recent thefts in town, had actively been evading police. Acting upon the tip, officers located the man who originally lied about his identity but eventually admitted who he was. The man, who was wanted on multiple warrants out of Campbell River and Abbotsford, was transported to Campbell River and remains in custody.

Possible flare sighting

On November 23rd, a resident of Campbell River reported seeing a single flare at the South tip of Quadra Island. The Joint Rescue Coordination Center out of Victoria confirmed they didn't have any emergency rescue calls. Officers were unable to find anybody in the area. No other flares and or incidents were reported.

Suspicious incident

At a little after midnight on November 25th, Quadra RCMP members received a report of a possible break and enter at a residence on Hyacinthe Bay Road. The complainant advised that he was woken up by the sound of metal clanging and saw lights on in his shop. Officers attended and noted all doors and windows were locked and secure and confirmed with the property owner that nothing was missing or damaged. The complainant was thankful for police attendance. 

Assist public 

On November 27th, Quadra RCMP received a report of man had failed to return to the hospital after having an overnight pass to visit family. With the assistance of the Quadra ferry staff, officers were able to locate the cooperative man who was transported back to the hospital without incident. Quadra RCMP would like to thank the Quadra ferry staff for their assistance with not only helping locate the individual, but also holding the ferry and making room for the police vehicle as well.
