Trail RCMP Make Firearm and Drug Seizure

On November 14, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a complaint of a man sleeping inside a running vehicle that was parked on Glover Road, in Trail, BC. Officers located a 40-year-old Trail man asleep inside the running vehicle and conducted an investigation roadside.

During the investigation, the officers discovered alleged drug use paraphernalia and a loaded shotgun inside the vehicle. Officers arrested the man and took him into police custody without incident. A search of the vehicle incident to his arrest allegedly located 7.2 gram of a white powdery substance suspected to be Methamphetamine, a replica handgun, knives, body armour, a significant amount of ammunition, and other items.

 Firearms, ammunition and drugs seized from roadside investigation.

The 40-year-old Trail man appeared via phone before a Provincial Court Judge and was released on several conditions. Timothy James Johnston (40) of Trail, BC, was charged with one count of Transport Fire in a Manner Contrary to Regulations contrary to Section 86(2) of the Criminal Code. He will make his next appearance on December 15, 2022, in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC.

Trail RCMP will be forwarding a full report to Provincial Crown Counsel and believe that more criminal charges will be laid against Mr. Johnston in regards to this incident. – Sgt. Wicentowich

Trail RCMP Arrests Aggressive Guest

On November 19, 2022, at 3:20 p.m. frontline Trail and Castlegar RCMP officers responded to a complaint of an intoxicated, aggressive 53-year-old West Kelowna man who had allegedly threatened to assault another guest of a business located in the 2000 block of Glenwood Drive, in Trail, BC.

Officers located the 53-year-old man was intoxicated and became aggressive toward officers. When the officer presented a conducted energy weapon in response to the man’s assaultive display of behaviour, he suddenly became cooperative with police. Officers took the man into custody without incident. He was lodged in the cellblock until sober at the Trail Detachment. The man was later released on conditions.

The 53-year-old West Kelowna man will make his first appearance on January 5, 2023, in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC, to face one count of Uttering Threats contrary to Section 264.1 of the Criminal Code.
