Files of note

Suspicious incident

On November 8th, near midnight, Quadra RCMP received a report of a suspicious incident at the Cape Mudge Lighthouse. The complainant was driving in Campbell River and advised they could see what looked to be a strobe light flashing near the Lighthouse across the water. The complainant was concerned as they hadn't seen that before. Officers arrived on scene and observed the only strobe light flashing was the actual lighthouse. The officer also patrolled the beach to ensure there were no other lights. Coast guard was updated as well in case there was a malfunction with the lighthouse.

Unwanted vehicle

On November 9th, a complainant advised there was an odd-looking motorhome parked at the end of a road. The motorhome had a handmade chimney out of the window and had been parked there for four days. The complainant advised they were concerned for the well-being of the occupant as there had been no activity since it was parked. Officers located the vehicle and were able to find the owner, who advised he was sick and that was why he hadn't moved his home. The owner was warned he couldn't keep his motorhome parked at that location, to which he stated he would move it as soon as he felt better.

Traffic incident

On November 10th at a little after 6:00 AM a motorist advised that a driver of a black 4 door sedan ran four stop signs in order to get to the ferry. The plate provided was incorrect and officers were unable to locate the vehicle. Due to the uptick in traffic complaints, especially concerning running stop signs, officers have increased traffic enforcement patrols and will continue to do so.

Check well being

Near midnight on November 10th, Quadra RCMP received a report of a man walking in the Hyacinthe Bay Road area yelling "please help me". Officers attended and located the man. The man, who was somewhat intoxicated, was extremely polite and cooperative and advised he had gotten lost leaving the legion. The man was transported to a friend's house for the night.

Missing hunter

On November 11th a complainant reported that he was out hunting with his father at the Main Lake are and his father had failed to return. Originally, the two agreed to meet back at the truck before sunset but when his father failed to make it back, the son became concerned and contacted the RCMP. Officers were in the process of contacting search and rescue when the son updated that his father had been located and was safe with another hunting party. The Quadra RCMP were very happy that the father was located and as well would like to thank Search and Rescue for their continued support and assistance.
