Squamish RCMP is asking for the public to help identify a man who inappropriately touched a young female employee at a local business in the 38100 block of Cleveland Ave.

Back on July 22, 2022, police received a report of sexual assault after an unknown man went into a local downtown store, followed the employee around for some time, and then touched her twice on her leg and hip before leaving the store. The same man had been in the store within the past few weeks and followed the young employee around.

After being touched by the man, the young employee reported the incident right away to her supervisor, parents, then police.

The investigation has been ongoing since the report was received, and police are asking for the public’s help to identify the man who remains outstanding. Captured on surveillance video, the man is described as:

Caucasian male, Age late 20’s to early 30’s, About 5’10</q> (178 cm), Medium build, Long curly black hair, Goatee, a black and white flannel short sleeve collared shirt, red t-shirt, black shorts, black sandals, brown and black baseball cap, and a small dark colored fanny pack

The young employee did the right thing by speaking up right away, says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP. We commend this young woman for having the courage to know personal boundaries and report to people in circle of support.
