2022-5793/2022-5776 – Assault with a weapon

Police investigated two separate incidents involving bear spray outside a building on Third Ave. at Main St. On September 9, 2022. At about 1:00 a.m., a person was bear sprayed outside the building. Police arrested a woman in relation to this incident and released her from custody with a future court date. In the second, separate instance on September 8, 2022, at about 5:20 a.m., a man was sleeping outside a building when another man approached him hit him with a pole and bear sprayed him. Police continue follow up for this matter.

2022- 5789 – Disturbance

On September 9, 2022, an intoxicated man walked into a local restaurant and pretended to be a server. Police attended to arrest the man, and lodged him in cells until he was sober.

2022-5859 – Motor vehicle accident

On September 11, 2022, police received a report of an accident involving a motorcycle. The driver of a truck and a motorcyclist were traveling southbound on Highway 99 when the pick-up truck driver made a right turn from the wrong lane and ended up side swiping the motorcyclist. Police issued a violation ticket to the pick-up truck driver for making a right tur from the wrong land and for having an expired driver’s license. The motorcyclist received minor injuries, however, their bike was not drivable and needed towing.

2022-5847 – Male lighting garbage on fire

On September 10, 2022, police received a report of a man lighting garbage on fire outside a building in the 1300 block Pemberton Ave., and also in front of a drug store at the Chieftan Center mall downtown. Fire Rescue and police responded to ensure the fire were out safely, and the police investigation continues. The man lighting the fires is described as about six feet tall pushing a shopping cart.
