Files of note

Not stolen scooter
On July 25th, a complainant reported a scooter that had been left for over three days on their property. The complainant believed the scooter was stolen and requested police contact the registered owner. Officers followed up and confirmed the vehicle was not stolen and was just abandoned. The complainant was advised they could tow the vehicle off the property if they so wanted to.

Unwanted vehicle
On July 25th, a manager at the Tsa Kwa Luten Lodge called stating that a van was camping near that location and was not a registered guest. Officers spoke with the driver who confirmed they didn’t have a reservation and were essentially squatting. The driver was told to leave right away and promised they would. Officers were called back by staff later and stated the driver still hadn’t departed. Officers returned right away and advised the person to leave right away. Officers stated on scene until the vehicle had actually left.

Shots heard
On July 28th, around midnight and again at a little after 6:00 AM, Quadra RCMP received multiple reports of shots heard near the South end of the island. Officers attended in both instances and conducted extensive patrols, but were unable to locate any of the parties involved. The investigation is ongoing and the public are encouraged to continue to contact the RCMP should they hear more shots.

Lost sea scooter
On July 29th, a complainant reported that his lost his scooter the previous afternoon at the South side of the bridge to Village Bay main lake. The sea scooter was described as a Yamaha, red and white, small sea scooter. The complainant had posted on social media sites in the hopes of being reunited with his scooter, but also contacted the RCMP should it be turned in.

Beach fires at Rebecca Spit
At almost midnight on July 30th, Quadra RCMP assisted fire with a beach fire at Rebecca Spit. Reports stated there were 6-8 people there having a fire against Quadra fire regulations. Members arrived on scene with the fire department and located a group of people having a beach fire. The group was advised that all beach fires were prohibited. The individuals were also advised the park closed at 9:00 PM and they shouldn't be in the park close to midnight. The group was very apologetic and complied right away with squashing the fire. The group was directed to read the copious amount of signs on Quadra regarding park closures and beach fires so they could avoid issues in the future.

Share the road
Quadra RCMP have been receiving complaints regarding bikes and motorists on the road. Please make sure if you are driving that you give cyclists enough room on the side of the road. If you need to pass a bicyclist, please ensure that you wait until it is safe and you can see the other lane and oncoming cars. Do not pass if you don’t have visibility, such as on a hill or a sharp corner. For cyclists please ensure you are staying on the side of the road and using the correct hand signals to allow drivers to know what your intentions are.
