The Trail and Greater District RCMP Detachment responded to the several calls for service over the past week between May 19-23, 2022.

Below are some of the highlights from those calls.

Weapons Seized During Roadside Detention
File # 2022-2054

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 10:20 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a complaint about two men allegedly making threats towards another man, in downtown Trail, BC. The officer located a 42-year-old Trail man and a 32-year-old Trail man in a vehicle in the 2100 block of Daniel Street. The officer detained the men and vehicle roadside.

 A .22 calibre rifle

Additional officers attended the incident to assist with the investigation. While roadside, officers discovered and seized a .22 calibre rifle and baseball bat from inside the vehicle.

Trail RCMP will be recommending weapons charges against the 42-year-old Trail man to Crown Counsel.

Theft of Dirt Leads to Impaired Driving Charge
File # 2022-2081/2083

On Friday, May 20, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a complaint about two men allegedly stealing two bags of dirt from a business near the 8100 block of Highway 3B, in Trail, BC. Officers located a vehicle containing a 39-year-old Trail man and a 33-year-old Trail man in this area and conducted an investigation into the alleged theft.

After speaking to the driver, the 39-year old Trail man, an officer entered into an impaired driving investigation roadside, as he believed that the man was under the influence of a drug. The officer read a demand to the man, who underwent a Standard Field Sobriety Test that resulted in a fail.

The 39-year-old Trail man was issued a 24-hour Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to a number of safety deficiencies were observed by officers.

The theft of dirt remains under investigation.

Impaired Driving by Drug
File # 2022-2102

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 12:58 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a complaint about a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 3B, in Fruitvale, BC. The officer located a 32-year-old Warfield woman with her 3-year-old child in their vehicle.

The officer made observations while roadside that the woman ability to operate a motor vehicle was allegedly impaired by a drug and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

A demand was read to the woman, who underwent a Standard Field Sobriety Test administered by an officer from the BC Highway Patrol, that resulted in a fail.

The 32-year-old Warfield woman was issued a 24-hour Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.

The matter remained under investigation. Trail RCMP took measures to ensure the well-being of the child.

Trail RCMP will continue to prioritize the safety of our streets by taking impaired drivers off the road, especially as the summer months bring increased travel and traffic to the area. – Sgt. Wicentowich

Attempted Theft of Gas
File # 2022-2086

On Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 10:09 a.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP received a complaint that an unknown suspect in a light coloured minivan attempted to siphon gas from a vehicle in the 3200 block of Highway Drive, in Trail, BC.

New vehicles may have an anti-siphon device installed; however, please be alert to this issue and contact the RCMP if you should see anything suspicious regarding gas theft. – Sgt. Wicentowich

Theft of Duvet
File # 2022-2088

On Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 1:42 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP received a complaint that a white Daniadown duvet (value $500) was stolen from a business in the 1900 block of Columbia Avenue, in Rossland, BC.

Trail RCMP would like to speak to anyone with information about the location of the duvet.

Meet Taco the Dog

 A small black dog named Taco lying in a blue blanket.

Taco spent a little time with officers at the Trail Detachment this weekend until his owner could retrieve him. Taco had no problem making himself comfortable while hanging out with the law.
