On Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 1:12 p.m. Cst. Fowler of the Trail and Greater District RCMP, while off-duty, discovered a 71-year-old Trail man who appear unconscious at the wheel of his black Ford truck stopped at a red light at the intersection of Bailey Street and Second Avenue, in Trail, BC. A bystander reported the incident to 911 while Cst. Fowler assisted the man who was believed to be in medical distress. Cst. Fowler woke the man after some effort and conducted an initial assessment of his immediate wellbeing. The officer determined that the man was not in a state of medical emergency.

The man informed the officer that he experienced unexpected heavy fatigue after a medical treatment and needed to go home to rest. The man declined further medical assessment and treatment by EHS.

Trail RCMP will report the incident to the BC Office of Superintendent of the Motor Vehicles and ICBC.

Trail RCMP thanks Cst. Fowler for taking action and ensuring that the 71-year-old Trail man was okay. Our local officers may take off their uniforms once they leave work, but they are always willing to jump back into duty when the community need them. – Sgt. Wicentowich
