The Trail and Greater District RCMP Detachment responded to the several calls for service over the past week. Below are some of the highlights from those calls.

Public Safety Announcement

Trail and Greater District RCMP File # 2022-1279
On Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 4:21 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP received a report that a man claiming to be a realtor attempted to enter a home in the 500 block of Spokane Street, in Trail, BC. The man said he was showing the house to a client as it was listed for sale. The occupant had not been notified about this potential showing, did not allow the man to continue, and the man left without incident. The occupant contacted the local real estate company who said that they did not have any showings at her residence.

The man was described as average height and build, with short dark hair, and wearing a black sweater with a Remax logo over the left breast. If you have any information about the identity of the man, or experienced a similar incident, please contact the Trail Detachment at (250) 364-2566 to speak to an investigator.

Two Suspected Arsons in Trail Over the Weekend

Trail and Greater District RCMP File # 2022-1297
On Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 3:25 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to an intentionally set grass fire near the 5000 block of Highway 3B, in Trail, BC. KBRFR extinguished the fire while Trail RCMP conducted a scene examination and search of the area.

On Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 7:31 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to an intentionally set grass fire near Devito river and Bear Creek Road, in Trail, BC. KBRFR extinguished the fire while Trail RCMP conducted a scene examination and search of the area. Trail RCMP located four other areas in which there appeared to be recent intentionally set fires.

Trail RCMP continues to investigate the suspicious fires and ask the residents in the area to remain on the lookout for any suspicious people or occurrences that may be related to the cause of these two fires. If you have any information about who started the fires, please contact the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to speak to the investigator.

Social Media Woes

Trail and Greater District RCMP File # 2022-1270
On Friday, April 1, 2022, at 8:29 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP received a complaint from a 44-year-old Warfield woman that a 45-year-old Trail woman sent her a message through social media allegedly threatening to steal her food. When contacted by the RCMP, the 45-year-old Trail woman denied this and claimed that the Warfield woman was harassing her through social media. Both agreed to block each other on social media to prevent further contact as recommended by the Trail RCMP.
