Assault report leads to individual barricading themselves in apartment building

On March 9, 2022, at 8:24am, The Fort St John RCMP received a report of an assault in progress on 102nd Street in Taylor, BC, in an apartment building. 

Frontline police officers attended and spoke to the victim who had exited the residence.  

While on scene, police received additional information that potentially a firearm had been discharged in the residence and evacuated the building.

The suspect remained in the residence and was uncooperative with police, barricading themselves in the residence.  Due to the potential threat of a firearm, the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called to assist with apprehending the suspect.

With the assistance of ERT, the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody.  Frontline police officers transported the suspect to the Fort St John RCMP detachment where they currently remain.

Fort St John RCMP have secured the scene for further investigation.
