On September 15th, 2021 at approximately 2:45pm a kayaker while on the Columbia River in Castlegar observed a male who was in medical distress shortly after entering the river.
The kayaker was able to pull the 55-year-old male onto his kayak and a short time later a boater came to assist. The man, who is expected to make a full recovery, was transported to shore and later to hospital for medical assessment.
