On the afternoon of September 9th, 2021 Cranbrook RCMP were advised of a possible location of a missing youth associated to a stolen car being operated by an adult male suspect. The red Pontiac Grand Prix was stolen out of Waterloo, Ontario and had fled from police in Alberta as well as Saskatchewan where it rammed a police car in the process.

Members of Cranbrook general duty, Enhanced Response Unit, Police Dog Service and BC Highway Patrol initially attempted to stop the vehicle in the downtown area. The stolen grand prix immediately fled but, was ultimately disabled in the Southview area after colliding with two police vehicles and causing damage to two residential properties. The adult male attempted to flee on foot but, was quickly apprehended by Police Service Dog Jerry and safely taken into custody. Cranbrook RCMP will be working closely with the other involved police agencies for the totality of Criminal Charges involved.

Cranbrook RCMP request anyone with information on the offences to contact the non-emergency line at 250-489-3471.
