A woman has been apprehended after she allegedly attempted to assault three officers in Salmon Arm on Monday afternoon.

On August 16, 2020 at 2:15 p.m. Salmon Arm RCMP officers were called to Tappen Valley Road, A bystander reported there was a woman laying in the road with a screwdriver in her hands, she was screaming and not making any sense.

An officer attended and was joined by two other officers as they worked to locate and identify the woman, who had now moved to a residence in the area.

Once at the residence the officers attempted to make contact with the woman who allegedly turned violent, throwing glass and metal objects at the officers. Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation and calm the woman, she continued to throw glass and metal objects at the officers.

The woman struck one of the officers in the hand with a machete and rushed the other two officers with a scythe. The officers were able to subdue the female using a Conductive Energy Weapon and she was unharmed.

Sgt. Scott West states, "We are happy to report that the officers were unharmed and resumed duties after they took the woman to the hospital where she remains under a doctors care at this time."
