On May 18, 2021, front line Salmon Arm RCMP officers were alerted to a vehicle coming from Chase RCMP’s detachment area, after previously being in Barrier BC.

The vehicle and adult female driver was allegedly involved with a 14-year-old who was subject of an abduction file in Alberta.

Police officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in Salmon Arm BC. As a result of that traffic stop, RCMP officers located the 14-year-old female youth who appeared to be safe at the time. The police officers placed the child in the care of the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development.

The driver, a 25-year-old Alberta woman, was taken into custody and released on process to appear in court at a later date in Alberta.
