On January 7, 2021 at approximately 9 p.m., Salmon Arm RCMP responded to a call of an erratic driver on the Trans-Canada Highway between Sicamous and Salmon Arm. The vehicle was reportedly being driven into the on-coming lanes, fortunately there were no on coming vehicles.

The vehicle was located in the area of Canoe BC. It matched the description of a suspect vehicle that had fled from local police in the recent past.

As a result of quick thinking and the deployment of a spike belt the vehicle was safely disabled and came to final rest in a snow bank on 10 Avenue SE in Salmon Arm, states S/Sgt. Scott West.

The driver fled the suspect vehicle. After a brief struggle a male matching the description of the suspect, who is known to local police, was arrested on four outstanding warrants near 37th Street SE.

The warrants were for drug and driving related offences.

The male is in custody at this time.
