Intoxicated driver
A report of a possible intoxicate driver was received by the Kitimat RCMP at approximately 2:40 am on October 31st. A vehicle description and location were provided and the vehicle was located very quickly. During the traffic stop, the driver provided a sample of their breath, which resulted on a fail reading on the Approved Roadside Screening device. As a result, the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2024-3990)
Egg mischief
The report of an egg thrown at a window was called into the Kitimat RCMP on November 1st. The window, located in the Kildala neighbourhood, was not damaged by the single egg. A canvas of the area for CCTV and further inquires was negative. No further damages or incidents were reported. (2024-4012)
False 911 calls
On November 2nd, the Kitimat RCMP received two 911 hang up calls from residences. The first call from residence, located in the Whitesail neighbourhood, was received at approximately 9:00 am. The investigating RCMP officer attended the residence and was able to confirm that there were no emergencies. It was further found that some children were playing with a phone when the 911 call was made. A conversation was had about playing with the phone and 911 calls. Later in the day, at approximately 5:00 pm, a second 911 call from a different Whitesail residence was received. An officer attended and once again, after ensuring there was no emergency it was found that children in this residence were also phoning 911. A discussion was had to ensure the proper use of 911 was understood by the children, who also apologized for the call. (2024-4018) (2024-4020)
2 IRP’s in less then 20 mins
On November 3rd, between 1:10 am and 1:20 am, two officers took two impaired drivers off of the street, issuing both wit 90 day Immediate Roadside Suspension. The first vehicle was noticed while it was being operated along Haisla Blvd without it’s head and tail lamps illuminated. Once the traffic stop was done, the officer initiated an impaired operation of a motor vehicle investigation. Two breath samples were provided by the driver which registered fail. The second officer located a vehicle stopped at a business on the 800 block of Tsimshian Blvd at 1:20 am. The vehicles driver was passed out while they had care and control of the vehicle. Once the driver was woken up, two breath samples were provided and both had a fail result. Both vehicles were also impounded for 30 days. (2024-4026) (2024-4027)
Lost, found and returned
On November 5th, a lost change purse had been located at bus stop along the Whitesail bus route. The item was turned into the Kitimat RCMP detachment. Luckily, the investigating officer was able to identify and contact the owner of the purse. The owner attended the detachment and was thankful for the return of the belonging. (2024-4046)
