Broken windshield
A report of a windshield broken over night was received by the Kitimat RCMP on October 24th. The vehicle had been parked at a residence located in the Whitesail neighbourhood. The incident occurred between 9:30 pm on October 23rs and 7:00 am on October 24th. Neighbourhood enquiries were conducted, but if you saw anything suspicious this evening, please contact the Kitimat RCMP at 250-632-7111. (2024-3911)
Prohibited driver
On October 24th, at approximately 8:45 pm, A Kitimat RCMP officer was conducting traffic patrols on Haisla Blvd Kitimat BC. The officer ran queries on vehicle that came back, showing the registered owner had an invalid drivers license, prompting a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to produce a driver license and investigation revealed that they were prohibited from driving. The driver was for driving while prohibited and had the vehicle towed for impoundment. The driver was released on an appearance notice for court on an upcoming date. (2024-3918)
Possible impaired driver
A report if a possible impaired driver on Hailsa Blvd was received by the Kitimat RCMP at 7:15 pm on October 25th. A vehicle description was provided allowing the investigating officer to located and conduct a traffic stop. It was found that the driver was not impaired, however they were a new driver with an ‘L’ license learning to drive. A road safety discussion was had with the driver and licenced teacher. (2024-3929)
Single vehicle collision
On October 26th, at approximately 9:11 pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a single vehicle MVI in the 1900 blk of Kitamaat Village Rd, Kitimat BC. Kitimat RCMP officers attended scene, locating the vehicle roof down off the road. Impairment was ruled out as a contributing factor to the collision. The persons in the vehicle were transported to local hospital to be checked out. Luckily, no serious injuries occurred. (2024-3942)
Keep the peace
The Kitimat RCMP was requested to keep the peace as documents were being served at a residence in the Nechako Neighbourhood on October 28th. The officers attended and there were no issues while the document service was being completed. (2024-3956)
After school walk
A concerned parent contacted the Kitimat RCMP on October 29th at 3:45 pm after they attended a local Elementary school to pick up their child afterschool. The child was not there as planned, causing concern. As officers from the Kitimat RCMP were attending the area to assist in locating the youth, they were advised the youth had made their way home safe and sound, after deciding to walk home instead of sticking with the premade plan of being picked up. An officer met with the family and ensured all was well. (2024-3969)
Halloween safety reminder
With Halloween upon us, the Kitimat RCMP would like to remind all drivers and pedestrians to be mindful of each other. There will be ghosts, ghouls, goblins and many other costumes will be out in full force as it gets dark. The kids might not be watching for cars as their excitement over comes them. Parents, please watch over your littles and drivers, pay extra attention as they may not be watching for you. Let’s make sure that everyone has a fun filled and safe Halloween night! Watch for police cars as officers will be around and may have candy to hand out as well.
