Police looking for witnesses after stabbing

Police are investigating an early morning stabbing which left a victim with serious injuries.

At approximately 4:30 am on August 15th, Campbell River RCMP were called to a stabbing that had just occurred near the corner of 13th Avenue and Dogwood Street. Upon attendance, a 31-year-old male victim was located with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries, however is expected to survive.

Police identified several people at the scene who were uncooperative with the investigation. The victim also did not provide further details. Preliminary investigation has determined that the victim and suspect are likely known to each other.

At this time, police do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the general public. However, RCMP are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to provide to help advance this investigation, to contact the Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.
