Check well being

2023-2736

On December 28, 2023 Lillooet RCMP were asked by BC Ambulance (BCAS) to do a wellness check at a residence in Lillooet on an elderly woman whose medical alert device had sent off a notification. A Lillooet RCMP member attended with BCAS. No one was home. It was learned the device was activated by accident, the elderly woman was already receiving medical attention at a nearby facility. There were no further safety concerns.

Assault

2023-2744

On December 30, 2023 a woman reported that a man was refusing to leave another woman’s residence in Lytton. Lytton RCMP members attended and located an intoxicated man, police learned the man was in a relationship with the woman who’s house he was at, they had verbal argument. The man was arrested for being intoxicated in public and removed from the area. He was lodged at the Lillooet RCMP detachment and released when he was sober. There was no physical assault disclosed from either party. Police are to conduct further checks with both parties in the interest of public safety.

Check-stop program

2023-2750

On December 31, 2023 Lillooet RCMP members and Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police officers conducted a vehicle check-stop in Lillooet to ensure valid vehicle insurance, valid drivers licenses, and to check the sobriety of drivers. Approximately 50 vehicles were checked. Multiple verbal warnings were given for minor motor vehicle infractions.

Cause of disturbance

2024-9

On January 2, 2024 a caller reported that a man was intoxicated causing a disturbance at a residence on Spencer Road in Lytton. A Lytton RCMP member attended and spoke with the man and his girlfriend who were allegedly causing a disturbance. The two agreed to leave and were given a ride to a friend’s house without any issues. The caller was updated and thanked police.

Suspicious occurrence

2024-31

On January 5, 2024 an employee at a local business in Lillooet reported there was an intoxicated woman wearing a black jacket and jeans, sitting on the front steps of their business, she had refused to leave the area. A Lillooet RCMP member attended and observed the described woman had already left the area. There were no further concerns.

Mental Health Act

2024-40

On January 7, 2024 Lillooet RCMP were asked for there assistance by Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police in apprehending a suicidal woman in Lillooet who had left Shalalth. A Lillooet RCMP member located the woman in Lillooet and apprehended her under the Mental Health Act. The woman was transported to the Lillooet Hospital where Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police took custody of the woman while she was waiting to be seen by a doctor.

Mischief

2024-43

On January 8, 2024 Lillooet RCMP attended a small fire that was lit inside of a bus stop on Main street at the request of the Lillooet Fire Department. The fire was started by a man to keep warm in the sub-zero temperatures. Lillooet Fire Department spoke with the man about safe fire practices and appropriate locations for a fire. There were no further concerns.

Broken down vehicle

2024-51

On January 9, 2024 Lillooet RCMP received a 3rd party report that a pickup truck with a camper was broken down on Hwy 99 by Duffey Lake at a pullout. The driver was still there with his vehicle with its attached camper since the prior night. Lillooet RCMP attended and offered the man a ride to town, he refused to leave until his vehicle was towed through his extended roadside insurance, he was adamant his extended roadside insurance foot the bill, he refused to pay out of pocket. Several tow companies contracted through his extended roadside insurance had missed his vehicle. He was eventually towed on January 10.
