The RCMP is recently celebrated its 150th anniversary and the Prince Rupert RCMP wants to celebrate with the community we serve.

Seafest is this weekend and the Prince Rupert RCMP wanted to join in on the festivities by celebrating our 150th of existence, or birthday! The celebration will be held at the Prince Rupert detachment, 100 6th Ave W from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Staff will be serving up birthday cupcakes to celebrate and there will also be hotdogs and cold beverages by donation, with all proceeds going directly to support Constable Jacque Van Wyngaardt's Cops for Cancer fundraising efforts. Constable Van Wyngaardt will also be present peddling away on his bike!

There are lots of other activities for the whole family such as: getting a tour of a police cruiser, seeing our RCMP Coastal Policing Vessel up close and personal, Crime Stoppers and Victim Services will be in attendance, and you have the opportunity to meet Safety Bear themself!

There will lots of giveaways and you can event snap a "Serge Selfie" with a member in our iconic uniform, or if you prefer to see what you look like in the Scarlett Tunic you can have your picture taken in the Red Serge.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend!
