2023-2656/2023-2575 – Impaired driving

On May 14, 2023, just before 11:00 p.m., a member on proactive patrol for impaired drivers saw a woman stagger into and out of a liquor store after parking her car. The member checked the driver and had her complete breath tests of which she failed. The member issued a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day car impoundment to the driver and ensured she and her dogs were in safe care of a responsible adult.

In a separate instance on May 12, 2023, just after midnight, police received a report of suspicious persons when two men stole some candy from a local store then were acting strange and rifling through a car that had a broken window before leaving a parking area. Members located the car, and saw the driver weaving in and of his driving lane. Members had the driver provide a breath sample that showed he had no liquor in his system. The driver did field sobriety tests and performed poorly. As a result, police issued the driver a driving prohibition and impounded his car. This investigation continues for follow up.

2023-2593 – Car fire

On May 12, 2023, at about 3:00 p.m., police received a report of a car being on fire in the 40600 block of Government Rd. The local fire department had the matter in hand and put out the fire. The car had no internal components and was merely a shell of a car that belonged to a business that has been closed for some time. There was no further evidence to indicated this matter put public safety at any risk and the file has since been concluded.

2023-2537 – Drive while prohibited

On May 10, 2023, at about 9:15 a.m., a member was on patrol when she saw a driver believed to be prohibited from driving. The member did a check stop and confirmed prohibition before arresting the driver. She released the driver on scene with a future court date. The driver also had his vehicle impounded for seven days.
