RCMP investigate similar robberies

The Dawson Creek RCMP are investigating two similar robberies that have recently occurred in the community. One in February 2023 and the other in March 2023.

Both investigations involve two different victims where each began communicating with a person through an online dating app. Once a meeting was organized, the suspect would meet with the victim for a short period of time then 1 or 2 accomplices would arrive at the meeting location and all the suspects would rob the victim. In one case a firearm was produced.

In each case, the suspect who initially connected with the victims has been identified, however the other suspects involved are not yet known.

The Dawson Creek RCMP suggests meeting in a safe neutral public space prior to meeting a stranger in a private location.
