Cause disturbance

On January 12 at 10pm an employee at the Lillooet shelter reported there was a man causing a disturbance in the stairwell outside the shelter. The employee added that the man was welcome to stay inside the shelter if he was not intoxicated. Police attended and located a man putting his shoes on. The man was informed to leave the area, otherwise was welcome to stay inside the shelter if he wished. The man elected to leave the area.

Breach of peace

On January 13 at 4am a complainant reported seeing an unknown man banging on the door of a local gas station, but no entry was gained. Lillooet RCMP attended but did not locate anyone on scene. Patrols in the area located a man with matching description about one block away. Police spoke with the man, who appeared to be soaking wet. The man stated he fell asleep in a puddle and woke up freezing cold. He believed that particular gas station was open 24/7, didn’t understand why the door was locked, and was banging on the door to go inside and warm up. Police informed the man that not all gas stations are open 24/7, particularly in the small towns. The man was apologetic and was provided a ride to a friend’s residence to warm up and sleep.

Road check

On January 13 at 9pm Lillooet RCMP conducted a road check on Main St and Park Dr. Approximately 40 vehicles were checked. One violation ticket was issued. Two breath demands given, both driver’s blew under the legal limit.

Take auto without consent

On January 14 at 8:30pm a man reported seeing an unknown woman inside his parked vehicle and appeared to be attempting to start it and steal it, near Main St. Police attended and engaged the still parked vehicle that had its running lights turned on but engine off. Police located a woman in the driver's seat, who was unable to open the driver's door to exit. Police opened the door and arrested the woman without incident. The woman was also intoxicated and was transported to Lillooet cells to sober up overnight. Police later learned that the vehicle had a broken driver's door, which likely prevented the woman from escaping prior to police attendance. The woman is facing numerous charges awaiting to be approved by BC Prosecution Services.

Theft of motor vehicle

On January 17 at 10am a man reported a company pickup truck stolen from their works yard. Police attended the scene and located some evidence suggesting the suspect had also entered another local business that was reported to police prior. Police made patrols to locate the vehicle, but were unable to find it. At 3pm the truck owner reported the male suspect had driven the stolen truck back to the works yard and was there with the owner. Police attended and observed the suspect, who is known to police. When police approached the suspect, he fled on foot. The suspect was followed by police, and arrested near the Fraser river without incident.
