File # 2023-185

Sea to Sky Squamish RCMP, BC Highway Patrol Squamish, Fire Rescue, BC Ambulance, and Miller Capilano responded to a serious two car accident that shut the highway in Britannia Beach earlier today.

At about 4:00 p.m. on January 9, 2022, police responded to a two car collision with injuries on Highway 99 on Britannia Creek Bridge.

One of the passengers was trapped inside a car, and motorists helped until first responders arrived.

Policed needed to close the highway due to the smashed-up cars and debris. The air ambulance landed in a nearby gravel pit to take a woman with unknown injuries to a lower mainland hospital. The two others involved were taken by ambulance to lower mainland hospitals as well. The highway has since reopened.

This was a collective effort by not only first responders, but folks who were first on scene, says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP. We continue following up with our investigation to determine what happened.
