2023-10 – Mischief

On January 1, 2023, at about 3:15 p.m., police were notified of a commercial alarm at a local business in the 1400 block of Winnipeg St. On arrival, members saw that a store front window had been damaged by a thrown object. No one gained access, and nothing was stolen. Police investigated leads available to them, however, could not identify a suspect.

New Years Eve calls for service

During the day and evening of December 31, 2022, police received 10 calls for service that ranged from driving, possible assault, assist Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance, assist with unwanted guest, and false alarms. Police say those celebrating the new year were very respectful of one another, local bylaws, and other provincial and federal laws.

2022-8037 et al – Impaired driving

Between December 27, 2022, and January 2, 2023, Sea to Sky Squamish BC Highway Patrol Squamish did 17 impaired driving investigations that resulted in 90 day or three-day driving prohibitions, and all investigations involved drivers local to Squamish. Police issued seven of these driving prohibitions on New Year’s Eve.

2022-8022 – Drone flying

On December 30, 2022, police received a report of a drone flying in the 1000 block of Finch Dr. The drone operator did not break any laws in this instance, and police reminded the operator of drone flying in populated areas.
