2022-6271/2022-6270 – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
On the evening of December 19, 2022, in two separate files, members who were on foot patrol in the village arrested five males for possession of cocaine in the 4000 block of Whistler Way. Four of the five men were local, and all five were released unconditionally given they had no prior police contacts and the quantities of drugs they had were small. Police seized and disposed of the drugs.
2022-6268 et al – Mischief
Over the past few weeks police have received numerous reports of youth throwing snowballs and rocks and lighting off fireworks. On December 19, 2022, after receiving a report, police with the help of a community minded citizen, located some of the youth, and spoke with them before turning them over to parents. Police are not convinced all events are associated, but anticipate a decline in them, and ask community to continue reporting if they witness any of this type of mischief.
2022-6214 et al – Driving sobriety check stops
This week’s impaired driving enforcement included two road checks that resulted in two-three day driving prohibitions under the Motor Vehicle Act. Members also did regular foot patrols through the village, and issued a number of violation tickets for people who were drunk in public or who urinated in public.
2022-6209 – Hit and run
Sometime overnight of December 15, 2022, a SUV parked in the 2700 block of Cheakamus Way was hit by an unknown driver of another car, denting the SUV’s right rear panel. The driver left the scene without leaving any contact information.
