Terrace RCMP review: December 5 to December 18, 2022

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 354 calls for service between December 5 and December 18, 2022. Some of those calls are highlighted below:

Erratic Driver Collides with Bus on Hwy 16 (22-12650)
On the evening of December 11, RCMP responded to a report of a hit and run involving a bus and possible black or blue SUV. The suspect vehicle was reported to have crossed the center line, swiping the side of the bus and leaving scratches down the side. A mirror believed to be from the suspect vehicle was left behind. The suspect did not stop and has not been identified at this time. No injuries were reported in this incident. Break and Enter and Theft (2022-12719)
Between the hours of 4:00 am and 5:00 am on December 14, a building was broken into on the 4400 block of Legion Ave. One suspect broke a window to gain access to the back of the building. Electronic equipment was reported to be stolen. Police are continuing to investigate. If anyone in that area has any information or video surveillance from that date and time, please contact the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400.

Suspicious Pair in Back Yard (2022-12721)
On December 14, Terrace RCMP received a report from a local resident reporting suspicious people lurking in his back yard during the night. Two unidentified people were going through backyards in the 4700 block of Olson Ave. The man did not notice anything missing from his property and the pair was scared off. RCMP would like to remind the public to keep their valuables put away and keep storage areas locked up to help prevent would be thieves from making off with their possessions.

Mischief to Vehicles at Local Dealerships Ongoing concern (2022-12786/12816)
Another round of vehicles have had windows smashed at a local car dealership in Terrace. On December 17, a report was received of three vehicles having windows smashed and being rummaged through. No suspect has been identified at this time. Also on December 16, one vehicle at an alternate dealership was also broken into by smashing a window. The suspect in this incident is also unknown. It cannot be confirmed at this time if the two cases are related or if the suspects are the same. Excessive Speeder near Jack Pine (2022-12821)
On the afternoon of December 17, RCMP were conducting patrols in the Jack Pine area on Old Lakelse Lake Drive. The officer observed a vehicle travelling at an excessive rate of speed and radar was locked in at a speed of 109 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the class 7 driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Family was contacted to provide the driver with transportation home.
