My vehicle is stolen, oh wait, never mind, husband just took it

File # 2022-3328

On November 11, 2022 at 1041 AM, a Grand Forks woman reported that her vehicle was stolen from her residence. However, within minutes, she called back stating that her husband had ended up taking the vehicle and left his cell phone behind, so she could not confirm it was him.

"If you feel you may be the victim of a crime, never hesitate to call and report immediately, while this file had a happy ending, often that will not be the case," said Sgt Darryl Peppler.

Best to drive when you have a driver’s license

On November 11, 2022 at 1:05 PM, an officer on patrol stopped a motor vehicle on 66th Ave and 18th St in Grand Forks. The driver, a 31-year-old Grand Forks man admitted that he did not have his drivers license as it was currently suspended. While his honesty was appreciated, he was still served with a Violation Ticket for No Drivers License, issued an Appearance Notice to attend Court in December for the charge of Driving While Suspended, and had his vehicle towed away and impounded for 7 days.

Impaired driver

File # 2022-3340

On November 12, 2022 just before midnight, while out on patrol, an officer stopped a truck travelling on 72nd Ave at 3rd St in Grand Forks. During the roadside interaction, the officer believed that the drivers ability to drive was impaired by alcohol. The officer entered into an impaired driving investigation and the driver provided samples of his breath roadside.

A 23-year-old man from Grand Forks, BC was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP). In addition to losing his license for 3 days, the driver also had his vehicle impounded.

Grand Forks RCMP are focused on impaired driving enforcement, especially as the holiday season approaches, said Sgt Darryl Peppler.
