2022-6982- Impaired driving check-stop
On November 5, 2022, during the evening, members did a check-stop for impaired driving. Members checked about 40 cars. They had one person provide breath samples into a roadside screening device, and results showed the driver was within legal limits to drive. Police wish to commend drivers for making responsible driving decisions, especially as holiday season approaches.
2022-6961 – Two car collision with injury
On November 4, 2022, at about 3:25 p.m., on Highway 99 north of Lions Bay, a pickup truck traveling southbound crossed the solid yellow line and collided head-on with a pickup truck going northbound. The car driver sustained undisclosed injuries and was transported to hospital. Neither vehicle was drivable, and the highway required closure for about an hour in both directions for investigation and clean-up.
2022-6952 – Lumber theft
Sometime over the last week, unknown thieves stole a significant amount of lumber and supplies from the 39400 block of Government Rd. 124 pieces of eight foot by 2.5 inch by 7 inch douglas fir decking, 16 pieces of eight foot by 4 inch by 5 inch railing caps, and ten pieces of Arabica 3.36 inch by 19.7 inch wood paneling were stolen, with a value of estimated between $5,000 to $10,000. The property was in a secured, fenced area, and thieves needed time and a big truck for this theft. The investigation continues.
2022-6922 – Collision involving cyclist
On November 2, 2022, at about 7:00 a.m., the driver of a car hit a cyclist on Garibaldi Way near Highway 99. The cyclist received undisclosed injuries and sought medical treatment as precaution, and also, their bike was damaged. Police continue follow up with this matter.
