Update: Police release sketch of suspect

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an incident at a Vernon elementary school in October.
The incident took place on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022 around 2:30 p.m., on the grounds of an elementary school in the 4300-block of 20th St in Vernon where an unknown man grabbed a 10-year old by the arm and asked the child to go with him. The child pulled away from the suspect and safely made their way home (October 12, 2022 release).
"As part of the ongoing investigation, The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has enlisted the service of a Forensic Sketch Artist," states Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP. "A forensic composite sketch of the suspect has been compiled and we are releasing it to the public who we hope can assist us in identifying the suspect and furthering our investigation."
The suspect is described as:
- Caucasian male;
- Late 50’s;
- Tall, slender build;
- Short, grey hair;
- Wearing jean overalls and a brown shirt.
Anyone who who recognizes the suspect, or has information related to the investigation, is asked to please call the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171 and quote police file #2022-18303.
