For week of October 18-24, 2022

2022-5391 – Theft

On October 22, 2022 at about 9:00 p.m., a business in the 4300 block Blackcomb Way captured video of two men taking three small paintings from the gallery walls. Each of the paintings is about the size of a photo, sizes that could easily fit into coat or shirt type pockets. The paintings had been purchased and were going to be on display until the owner took possession. Value of the three pieces is $80. Police follow up includes obtaining further descriptors of the men and seeking the public’s help to help identifying them.

2022-5370 - Assault

On October 20, 2021, at about 1:30 a.m., members were on foot patrol in the 4300 Main St. area when they saw a group of people having a verbal confrontation. The group, all from out of area, had been drinking. Things got physical when a woman punched a man in his face. Police arrested her, and released her with a future court date.

2022-5371 – Impaired driving prohibition

On October 21, 2022, at about 3:30 a.m., after doing a traffic stop, a member determined the driver, from out of area, to be impaired. The driver provided breath samples that resulted in WARN readings on the screening device, meaning he should not have been driving. The member issued a three-day notice of driving prohibition and seized the driver’s licence.

2022-4203 – Break, enter, and theft

In August 2022, police received a report of break, enter, and theft from a hotel in the 4000 block Whistler Way. Hotel security video captured an ex-employee entering a door marked for restricted entry, then leaving through the door and property with a blanket and pillow. On October 17, 2022, members were on foot patrol, saw the suspect, arrested him for the offences, and released him with a future court date.

Police ask anyone with any information regarding the above files to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
