2022-5273 - Assault
On October 14, 2022, at about 10:20 p.m., police responded to a report of assault in the 4100 block Gateway Dr. The victim, a local resident, had ongoing altercations with a Squamish man. The man hit the victim in his nose, causing it to bleed. The man, who had been drinking, ran from police but was caught a short time after. He was arrested for the assault, held in jail until sober, and released with a future court date and violation tickets for urinating in public and being drunk in public.
2022-5258 – Motorcycle accident with injuries
On October 14, 2022, at about 10:00 a.m., a speeding motorcyclist northbound on Highway 99 near the Daisy Lake Dam failed to complete a turn, and collided with the centre median and sand barrels. The driver sustained serious injuries, requiring a multiple-agency response including the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, Whistler Fire Rescue, and BC Ambulance and Air Ambulance. The highway was closed for about two hours for responders to work with the driver and for the investigation.
2022-5246 – Theft
On October 13, 2022, just before midnight, police received a report theft of a watch and a ring from a local hotel room in the 4500 block Blackcomb Way. The value of the goods is about $13,000 Canadian dollars. Various people had access to the room over a lengthy period of time, and hotel staff and police continue following up.
