2022-6646 - Arson

On October 17, 2022, at about 9:15 p.m., police received multiple reports of a man lighting fires on street in the 37800 block Cleveland Ave., and the man lit his shoes on fire. Police located and arrested the man for arson, and the investigation continues. No one was injured or no property damaged from this man’s actions.

2022-6624- Fraud

On October 17, 2022, police started investigating a report of fraud. The complainant was selling some property on a social media platform to a person later identified as a scammer. The scammer had the complainant e-transfer money a few times, then the complainant realized they were drawn into a fraud, losing about $2,000. To prevent further frauds, the complainant stopped all communications with the scammer, and notified their banks and credit agencies for their awareness and follow-up.

2022-6591 – Possession of stolen property

On October 15, 2022, police received a report of a driver on Highway 99 near Porteau Cove crossing lines and their trailer with scooter having no tail lights. Members located the driver, and through investigation determined the scooter was stolen. On arrest of the driver, a man with no fixed address out of Vancouver, police located some weapons and stolen bank cards. The driver was released from custody with a future court date.

2022-6568 – Possession of stolen property

On October 13, 2022, a BC Highway Patrol-Squamish member was on patrol on Highway 99 when he saw a motorcycle driver with passenger travelling. Police computers showed the driver was not permitted to have passengers, so the member did a traffic stop. On investigation, the member learned the motorcycle was unreported stolen from Langley, BC, and the member arrested the driver. Further investigation revealed a relative of the owner loaned out the motorcycle, therefore it was not stolen. The driver’s driving prohibition is still in effect.
