Lillooet RCMP October 5 to October 11 2022, Calls for service: 48

Collision

On October 5 at 11am, police attended a two-vehicle collision at Murray St and 10th ave. Driver of an SUV was heading eastbound on 10th ave while the driver of a pickup truck was heading southbound on Murray St. The driver of the pickup allegedly stopped at the stop sign, but did not see the SUV heading eastbound with right of way. The driver of the pickup accelerated after the stop sign and drove into the driver’s side of the SUV. One driver taken to local hospital with minor injuries. No indications of either driver being impaired. The matter was referred to ICBC.

Collision

On October 6 at 5pm, Lillooet RCMP attended a collision for a motorcycle that had gone off the road and into the ditch near Cayoosh Creek Bridge and Powerhouse Rd. The rider admitted to admiring the scenery and losing control of his motorcycle. No indications of impaired riding. The rider had some minor injuries. The matter was referred to ICBC.

Liquor act

On October 6 at 6:30pm, Lillooet RCMP located an intoxicated man that was passed out on Main St, sitting on the pavement next to multiple piles of vomit. The man was mildly responsive, but not able to care for himself. He was transported to a local hospital by BC Ambulance.

Assault

On October 6 at 9pm Lillooet RCMP were advised of an assault that had just occurred at Downton Park. Police attended and located a man known to police with bloody knuckles. The man admitted to getting into a fight with his cousin. The man declined assistance from BC Ambulance, and did not wish to pursue charges. Police located the cousin nearby who also had bloody hands and a cut on his face. He also stated he got into a fight with his cousin. The cousin did not wish to pursue charges, despite appearing to be the you should see the other guy, guy.

Liquor act

On October 7 at 10pm, a woman reported seeing a man laying in the ditch the Bearfoot Grill on Moha Rd. Police attended and located a man well known to police, who was intoxicated. The man lived nearby and was provided a ride home and into the care of family.

Roadcheck

On October 8 at 8pm, Lillooet RCMP conducted a roadcheck on Main St and 7th Ave. Approximately 30 vehicles were checked, one violation ticket was issued, and one approved screening device (breathalyzer) demand was conducted where a driver blew zero. No impaired drivers observed.

Traffic incident turns into arrest

On October 10 at 8pm, police located a black Dodge pickup parked in the middle of the road of Texas Creek Rd. The vehicle had no insurance and no plates attached, and there was no driver on attendance. Two passengers were located sitting in the back seat. Occupants alleged the truck had broken down and the registered owner, who was apparently driving, had gone to get a tow truck. One male passenger was found to have an active warrant out of Ontario, and was arrested and transported to cells. OPP was contacted to determine their wishes for the man. The truck was towed off the road back to the registered owner’s residence. The registered owner was served a violation ticket for having no insurance in the amount of $598 under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Animal call

On October 11 at 5pm Lillooet RCMP were called to assist BC Conservation with an aggressive cougar that had made a home on the south side of Powerhouse Rd near Hwy 99. The cougar was immediately aggressive and refused to leave the area once engaged by officers. For public safety due to being in a residential area with a walking trail only about ten metres away, the cougar was humanely destroyed on scene without incident.
