File # 2022-5210
On Monday September 19th, 2022, in the early morning hours, a bike lock chain securing four bicycles, was cut and the bicycles stolen from the 15300 block of Royal Avenue, White Rock.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. a uniformed police officer investigating an unrelated file in the 1500 block of Fir Street, observed a male cycling on a bicycle while dragging another bicycle by hand. The male continued cycling past the marked police vehicle and uniformed officer.
The officer who was out of his police vehicle speaking to a complainant, was able to radio another on duty officer who followed the male cyclist into Surrey. Recognizing that a bike fit the description of the recently stolen one, the male was arrested for possession of stolen property. Both bicycles were confirmed stolen by serial number and returned to their owner.
The male suspect, who is well known to police, was released at scene. The investigation continues and charges may be recommended at a later date.
