2022–4765, 2022-4766 – Break and Enter
On August 2, 2022, Squamish RCMP responded to calls in the 37000 block of Third Ave., where storage lockers had been pried open with multiple items stolen, including an Alps hunting pack, a Garmin GPS, a Bushnell range finder, a Bataleon evil twin snowboard (white board with green and blue bindings), Salomon snowboard boots, camping gear, hardware tools, and clothing. Surveillance produced photos were identified by Members and subsequently one of the suspects has been arrested.
2022–4811 – Impaired by Motor Vehicle
On August 4, 2022, a Squamish RCMP Member was pro-actively patrolling downtown Squamish when he observed a van with inactive plates. The Member initiated a lawful stop. As the member approached the driver, the Member observed signs of intoxication. During breath tests, the driver’s results were WARN. The member issued impaired related paperwork and had the vehicle impounded.
2022–4789 – Recovered Stolen
On August 3, 2022, Squamish RCMP received a report of suspicious vehicle that had been parked in the same location on Depot and Reid Rd for the past two weeks. The vehicle was in fact, stolen out of Garibaldi Highlands and sustained ignition damage. The Forensic Identification Unit was not able to attend as some acquaintances touched the car and contaminated the scene.
2022–4932 – Stolen Electric E-bike
On August 8, 2022 Squamish RCMP received a report of an electric Segway-9BOT, black and grey in colour with white stickers was stolen from the 38000 block of Fourth Ave between August 6 and 7.
BC Highway Patrol and Squamish RCMP Excessive Speed Enforcement
Over the August long weekend, BC Highway Patrol and Squamish RCMP seized 14 vehicles, impounded them for seven days, and issued violator tickets for excessive speeding to drivers. Excessive speeding high risk and can accompany other penalties such as driving prohibition, driver risk premium, and insurance increase. The RCMP also reminds drivers that all occupants of a vehicle must be wearing a seat belt.
