On July 23, 2022, two men broke into a local gas station along the 41400 block of Government Rd., and caused damage to the front glass door and to an automated teller machine. The car the men used had been stolen from a local car dealership parking lot about a week before. This file remains open for continued investigation.
2. 2022-4435 – Recovered Stolen Car
On July 22, 2022, at about 11:00 a.m., a caller reported seeing their partner’s stolen car being driven. Members located the stolen car and arrested the driver, a man from outside the area. When members searched the car, they found multiple pieces of stolen identification. The man was lodged in cells and had been wanted in other BC towns on arrest warrants. He remains in custody until a future court date.
3. 2022-4417- Potential Fraud
On July 21, 2022, a complainant reported receiving fraudulent looking bank related documents in the mail from a local bank. Suspicious about the documents, the complainant confirmed their bank does not typically communicate by mail. The complainant’s bank information was flagged and bank’s fraud department notified. While no offence occurred, the smart thinking of the complainant potentially stopped anything further from happening.
4. Constellation Festival
The Squamish RCMP had dedicated resources working the Squamish Constellation Festival event this past weekend. With exception of minor offences like youth drinking, people jumping safety fences, and groups of people bike riding at night with no safety equipment such as lights or helmets, police commend crowds for being generally well behaved.
Anyone with any information regarding the above files are asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
