The Prince Rupert RCMP is seeking a potential victim to come forward from an event that occurred January 1st, 2022.
In the early hours of New Years day front line members responded to an event that occurred on Mcbride St. During the investigation witnesses were interviewed, the scene was attended and patrols were made resulting in the arrest of a man for an unrelated charge. Through forensic analysis, as well as the statements taken from the witnesses, the identification of the suspect was confirmed as the man initially arrested.
The victim, however, was never contacted as witnesses said that they ran away. Front line members knocked on doors and attempted to obtain CCTV footage, however, the whereabouts of the victim was never found.
Investigators are now asking for the victim of this event to come forward and speak with them. "We understand you may be scared," Media Relations Officer Cst. Brody Hemrich said, "the RCMP wants to be an advocate for you during this situation. Please reach out to our investigators if you were involved in this event."
