Polaris ranger all-terrain vehicle collides with a tree in Warfield, BC

On Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 7:15 a.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP received a report that a Polaris Ranger All-Terrain Vehicle had collided with a tree near the intersection of French Street and Haig Street, in Trail, BC. The ATV had been abandoned after it had sustained heavy damage to its front end as a result of colliding with the tree. A RCMP officer located the 65-year-old Warfield man allegedly driving the ATV at the time of the collision. The man had sustained significant injuries and, upon advice of the police, sought medical treatment.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation. Trail RCMP believes alcohol and speed may be factors in the cause of the crash.

On Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 2:48 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a two vehicle collision between a Honda CRV sports utility vehicle and commercial tractor-trailer unit in the intersection of Highway 22 and Stoney Creek Road, in Trail, BC.
A 39-year-old Trail woman allegedly failed to yield to the oncoming tractor-trailer unit when she turned her SUV westbound onto Highway 22. Emergency Health Services transported the woman to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries. The 19-year-old student truck driver and three passengers involved the incident did not require medical attention.

Family heirloom recovered by Trail RCMP

On Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 2:54 pm. a Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a request for assistance from a 69-year-old Trail man in recovering his 50-year-old garbage can that went missing from his property in the 800 block of Helena Street, in Trail, BC. The garbage can had been passed down to the man through his family. The uniquely sentimental item was located by Corporal Steve McKeddie at a nearby residential complex, and it was believed that someone have moved it mistakenly to this property.

Cpl. McKeddie returned the garbage can to the 69-year-old man who was very grateful for its return.

We would like to recognized Cpl. McKeddie for his efforts and compassion when recovering this treasured item for the 69-year-old man. – Sgt. Wicentowich

Single vehicle rollover incident in Rossland, BC

On Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 4:15 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, and Emergency Health Services responded to a single vehicle rollover motor vehicle incident on Highway 3B near Ritchie Road, in Rossland, BC. A 58-year-old Montrose woman was driving her 2018 Ford F150 truck westbound when her truck suddenly swerved off the side of the highway, crashed into a pile of dirt, rolling over once and came to rest on its wheels, according to a witness.

KBFRF extracted the 58-year-old Montrose woman from her vehicle. EHS transported her to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital to received treatment for her serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Trail RCMP believe that the 58-year-old Montrose woman may have experienced a medical related incident prior to the crash. – Sgt. Wicentowich

Truck driver incident in downtown Trail, BC

On Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 1:30 a.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers were conducting a routine patrol when they observed a 2022 black Dodge Ram truck driving erratically westbound on the Victoria Street Bridge, in downtown Trail, BC. The officers detained the 35-year-old Warfield man and his vehicle roadside. The officers allegedly detected an odour of liquor emanating from the man and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

A demand was read to the man, who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a warn.

The 35-year-old Trail man was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and had her vehicle impounded for up to 3 days.

Trail RCMP is conducting impairment driving enforcement throughout the summer. Please don’t drink and drive and always arrange for a sober ride home ahead of time. – Sgt. Wicentowich
