Powell River RCMP respond to report of injured man

On June 20, 2022 at just after 11:00 p.m. the Powell River RCMP responded to the 2200 block of Zilinsky Road, after it was reported that a man was suffering from life threatening injuries.

On arrival, first responders found a 38 year-old man suffering from a targeted attack and in need of immediate medical attention. The man was treated at scene for his injuries by BC Ambulance, and immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Vancouver Island RCMP General Investigation section has been contacted and is currently assisting with the investigation in Powell River says Sergeant Chris Manseau, BC RCMP media relations officer. Members of the Forensic Identification Section (FIS) from Courtenay BC will also be assisting during this investigation

Currently, investigators are conducting neighborhood inquires, speaking with possible witnesses and canvassing for audio and video surveillance. This investigation is expected to last several days, and the public should expect to see an increase in police presence in the area.

Although this incident is in it’s infancy, investigators believe this was a targeted event, and there is no perceived threat to the public at this time Manseau added.
