Noise complaint

On June 9 2022 at 5:00pm Kitimat RCMP were called to a residence on Finch St for a report of loud music being played. When police arrived, there was no music heard from the property. Police spoke with the property representative who acknowledged why police were there and admitted they were playing music earlier. Police reminded the property representative about Kitimat’s 24 hour noise bylaw.

Alarm

On June 10 2022 at 6:22am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a commercial alarm at a city center business. Police attended, confirmed the doors were secure and there were no signs of a disturbance. Confirmed false by police attendance.

Assist Kitamaat fire

On June 11 2022 at 3:28am, Kitimat RCMP received a request from Kitamaat Fire Department to assist with a report of a residence filling with smoke. Upon police attendance in conjunction with Kitamaat Fire, they were able to confirm there was no fire at the residence, it was just cigarette smoke. No injuries.

Accidental 911

On June 11 2022 at 3:09pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a 911 call from a cell phone. Police were able to locate the owner of the phone who inadvertently dialed 911 while at work and confirmed their wellbeing.

Mischief

On June 12 2022 at 10:32am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of mischief to a vehicle that occurred sometime overnight in the 1100 block of Kingfisher Ave. A Ford Explorer had the windows smashed out with a chunk of asphalt. Nothing reported stolen from the vehicle. If anyone has any information regarding this act of mischief, please contact Kitimat RCMP or if you wish to remain anonymous, CrimeStoppers 1-800-222-8477.

Alarm at pool

On June 13 2022 at 7:41am, Kitimat RCMP were alerted to an alarm at the pool, police attended and checked all the doors. Doors appeared to be secure. Police spoke with a District of Kitimat employee who came to the pool early to fix something, inadvertently triggering the alarm. Deemed false by police attendance.

Suspicious persons

On June 13 2022 at 2:14pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of suspicious persons at MK Bay Marina from the previous week, specifically June 8 at 11:00pm. The caller reported that a boat operator noticed two persons who may have been attempting to steal fuel from a boat. No description provided. There have been several reports of thefts in that area. Police remind the public to keep items secure, and if they do observed suspicious activity to report it to police.

Graffiti

On June 14 2022 at 12:40am, Kitimat RCMP officers were on patrol when they observed new graffiti to two bus shelters. One shelter located on Alexander Ave, the other shelter on Kingfisher Ave. Both shelters had similar orange spray paint on the windows, the combination of the letters appeared to be SERD was sprayed several times within the shelters. If anyone has any information as to the person(s) responsible for the graffiti, please contact Kitimat RCMP or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Roadside check stop

On June 15 2022 at 10:52pm Kitimat RCMP officers conducted a roadside check stop on Highway 37. Police checked over 20 vehicles were stopped resulting in one immediate roadside prohibition as well as fail to stop for police.
