The Nelson RCMP is increasing enforcement efforts after receiving several complaints recently regarding youth operating unlicensed dirt bikes.

The youth have been operating the dirt bikes on public roadways at high rates of speed and stunting in the Pass Creek and Krestova areas.

On the evening of May 24, 2022, at approximately 5 pm, frontline officers attempted to stop a large group of youth who were found operating their dirt bikes erratically on Pass Creek Road in Krestova, west of the South Slocan.

The group of youth fled from the officers at a high rate of speed southbound on Pass Creek Road toward Castlegar, committing a number of offences under the BC Motor Vehicle Act, in addition to flight from a Peace Officer.

The Nelson RCMP will be increasing enforcement efforts in Pass Creek and Krestova in an effort to address this issue and would like to remind the public that it is unlawful to operate unlicensed dirt bikes on public road ways without insurance or driver’s licenses, said Corporal Derek Pitt of the Nelson RCMP. If you know who these individuals are, we ask that you contact the RCMP.

If you saw anything or have any information relating to the identity of the individuals who were involved in this incident, please contact the Nelson RCMP at 250-352-2156.
